Position Summary

Meghna Re-Rolling and Steel Mills Limited (MRSML), a concern of Meghna Group of Industries is going to establish a top-notch steel factory in Bangladesh with the latest European technologies and machinery having a production capacity of 1.5 million MT per annum. The vision of this concern is to produce world-class re-rolling products and billets which will meet the uprising demand in the local market and will also bring significant economic growth by exporting around the globe. We are encouraging competent and experienced professionals to apply for the position of Manager-Roll Shop. The incumbent will be responsible for planning and managing the availability of rolling and guiding equipment in line with the production plan to ensure seamless operations and optimal utilization of resources within the module. The position reports to the Head of Production.

Job Responsibilities

  • Supervise machining and fabrication activities by overseeing the operation of CNC roll turning, notching, wire cutting, lathe, surface grinding, shaper, and drilling machines to ensure timely and accurate machining of rolling and guide rolls and fabrication of equipment, supporting continuous mill operations.
  • Plan and ensure the availability of rolls and assemblies by coordinating the machining, grooving, and housing of rolls and guide rolls as per rolling schedules to prevent production delays.
  • Evaluate and allocate resources efficiently by analyzing key performance indicators and coordinating the use of workshop machines, roll stands, guide assemblies, materials, and manpower to ensure optimal production efficiency.
  • Monitor and maintain workshop equipment by scheduling timely maintenance, repairs, and spares refurbishment to reduce downtime, extend equipment life, and maintain production continuity.
  • Control and optimize workshop costs by tracking expenditures, managing inventory, and applying lean principles to reduce mill roll usage and maintain a lean spare parts inventory without compromising availability.
  • Strategize and manage consumables usage by monitoring the use of guides, bearings, and other items to ensure availability while reducing waste and improving cost-effectiveness.
  • Maintain and update operational oversight systems by managing the workshop's Management Information System (MIS) for real-time visibility, informed decision-making, and improved process control.
  • Implement ISO-compliant systems and practices by ensuring adherence to quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety standards to meet legal requirements and promote a safe and sustainable workplace.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks by enforcing preventive actions and continuous improvements in line with legal and company safety standards to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Collaborate with Material Management and Logistics to ensure the timely availability of machinery and spare parts, thereby avoiding operational bottlenecks.

Required Educational Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Mechanical Engineering (ME)

Experience

  • At least 8 years

Additional Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in drafting with AutoCAD to support accurate and efficient fabrication and maintenance tasks within the workshop.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, particularly in rolling mill operations and workshop equipment like CNC machines, lathes, grinders, and shaping tools.
  • Hands-on experience in roll machining, grooving, assembly of guides and roll stands, and roll housing.Ability to diagnose, repair, and maintain workshop and rolling mill equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Skilled in managing consumables (rolls, guides, bearings), spare parts, and tools while minimizing waste and costs.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards related to quality, safety, and environmental management (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop technical teams for high performance..
