Job Responsibilities

The BRAC Institute of Languages (BIL), the leading entity responsible for language education at BRAC University, invites applications for full-time, permanent faculty positions across various disciplines, including language, translation, interpretation, language education management and leadership, applied linguistics, and sociolin-guistics, at the ranks of Associate Professor or Professor. The successful candidate must hold a doctoral degree from a highly reputable university in a relevant field and demonstrate evidence of scholarship and professional engagement in that area, commensurate with the rank. All selected candidates will be expected to contribute to teaching, research, and service.

• Performance (including other degrees) and international academic experience.
• Relevant and extensive teaching experiences at leading educational institutions.
• A portfolio of high-quality and impactful research and scholarly work.
• Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills in English and Bangla.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various stakeholders.
• Exceptional organizational skills and professionalism; and
• Impeccable ethical standards.

Candidates with research publications or specializations in the areas given below will have priority:

• Language, translation, and interpretation in the domains of Finance and Business, Marketing & Creative, Legal, Technical & Engineering, or Medical & Healthcare
• Language education management and leadership focusing on strategic and innovative operations, curriculum and assessment development, and quality assurance, with a strong emphasis on equity, diversity, and community involvement
• Quantitative research in applied linguistics and sociolinguistics
• Language education, decoloniality, and Southern epistemologies
• Affective language education
• Critical pedagogy
• Materials development and evaluation for minoritized learners
• Inclusive language testing and assessment
• Language education for sustainable development, social justice, and equity
• Language, technology, and artificial intelligence
• Language and trans-movement
• Language and class, gender, religion, nation, ethnicity, race, etc.
• Linguistic rights of indigenous and minority communities
